Sustainability Practices
Sustainability and ethical practices are a major part of who we are at Fika Cafe. We ethically source all of our food, make sure that we are using compostable and recyclable material, and try to eliminate as much food waste as we can. We want to do our part to help the climate and that is a huge value for us. If you are interested in living more sustainable, here are some ideas of ways you can add this into your everyday life:
1. Swapping to reusable materials. From reusable straws to a zero waste toothbrush to storing food in reusable containers, there are simple ways to be less wasteful with the products you choose.
2. Recycle! This is a super easy way to be more sustainable. You can easily find your state's recycling laws and start today.
3. Carpooling is another way to lessen your carbon footprint. By carpooling just twice a week, 1,600 pounds of greenhouse gases can be kept out of the air each year.
4. Reducing your food waste! This can be a simple one if you monitor your food intake and buy accordingly. Meal prepping can help you ensure that you buy just enough to make the meals that you are planning for.
5. Shopping at the thrift store or swapping clothes with friends. Sometimes the urge to go by new clothes is real but opting for thrifting or swapping clothes is much more sustainable than purchasing brand new clothing that you might throw away in a few years.
6. Lastly, eating less meat. You can read our article on reasons to consider eating vegan to learn more about the benefits that this has to our environment. Come check us out at Fika Cafe to try delicious meat-free meals.
